Union Bay Improvement District Fire Department Dump and Duty Truck

I was asked the following from one of my neighbours;

“I was wondering if you would investigate these two questions re UBID by-laws 273 and 274

Bylaw 273 was approved in May 2018. This bylaw was to take $30,000 from the waterworks renewal fund to purchase a small dump truck. I have not seen this new truck around Union Bay. Could you find out if it was ever purchased.

Bylaw 274 was approved in May 2018. This bylaw was to take $68,250 from the Fire Reserve Fund to purchase a new fire department Duty Truck. Once again, I have not seen this truck around Union Bay could you find out if it was ever purchased.”

So I decided to go get some answers, a quick email to Trustee Vandenberg netted the following response;

Bylaw 273. The purchase of a small dump truck was put on hold until the water treatment plant was completed in case the requirements changed.

Bylaw 274. The purchase of the fire department duty truck was done and the truck is currently in service.

trustee Vandenberg.

Well that was easy….. now off to visit Daniel Arbour Area A Director.

  1. Hi Paul,
    Can you find out what happened to the Waterworks truck that was always breaking down and was still under warranty? The admin was going to follow up after Kaljur asked why UBID was talking about purchasing a new truck due to the problems instead of enforcing the warranty.
